Job Title: Dog Care Assistant

Job Type: Part time (sub contracted basis)

Hours: 27.5 hours per week (mornings - 7:30am to 1:00pm, Monday to Friday)

Pay: £8.50 per hour

We are looking for a dog care assistant to join the team at an established dog day care centre just outside Banbury. The position is on a sub-contracted (self-employed) part time basis.

The role will focus on providing the high level of day to day dog care expected of the business. You will be the first point of contact to clients bringing their dogs to day care therefore, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Throughout the day you will be responsible for the care and management of the dog’s welfare needs. This will include feeding, toileting, exercising, and providing different forms of enrichment. You will need to be able to identify different behaviours and act upon these when appropriate, such as identifying dogs that appear stressed and helping them to recover. An understanding of basic medical conditions is a necessity so that any health issues can be identified and treated as required.

You will need to have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks while supervising the dogs. An ability to demonstrate a high level of initiative and to work unsupervised are essential. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic with a positive attitude, and a genuine love for animals.

Prior experience of dog handling is essential, preferably with a minimum of an accredited Level 3 qualification. Due to the location and role you will need to have an up to date UK driving licence. Due to insurance purposes we are unable to hire staff under the age of 18.
